Competition: Smart Collaboration & Innovation in a Changing Process Industry

The Dutch process industry is at a turning point. And this is exactly the moment we want to mark together with you.

As we celebrate NAP’s 65th anniversary, we are not only looking back, but above all looking ahead. What will a future-proof process industry look like? Which smart forms of collaboration will truly make a difference, and which prize-winning ideas deserve a place on the NAP Anniversary Congress stage?

That is why we are organizing an innovation competition for everyone who cares about the sector. Whether you work for a large industrial company, an SME, a knowledge institution, or are still a student: your idea can help shape the next step.

We can make the difference together
The sector is facing significant challenges. Grid congestion is slowing growth. Regulations are becoming more complex. Customers are demanding more. And sustainability is no longer optional, it is essential. At the same time, digitalization, new technologies and new ways of collaborating offer tremendous opportunities.

We are looking for ideas that look beyond the short term. This could be a concrete product, a service, an innovative collaboration model or a smart concept that connects organizations.

To give an example

  • New ways of collaborating within the value chain
  • Solutions that contribute to sustainability, digitalization or efficiency
  • Initiatives that strengthen knowledge sharing between industry, education and technology
  • Smart forms of co-creation or shared infrastructure
  • Ideas that address current bottlenecks such as grid congestion or regulatory pressure

But please do not feel limited by these examples. We are particularly interested in fresh perspectives that challenge us and inspire new thinking.

 Participate!

Who can participate?
Do you work in or around the process industry, feel involved in the sector, and believe it can be smarter, more sustainable or simply better? Then we warmly invite you to participate.

To give an example:

  • Companies in petrochemicals, chemicals, food and energy

  • Engineering firms, installation companies and suppliers

  • Educational institutions and students

  • Knowledge partners and service providers

  • Professionals within the NAP network

Do you enjoy collaborating with others? Even better. The real strength of this competition lies in connection.

How it works
We are keeping the competition accessible and straightforward.

Step 1 – Initial submission
Before 15 May 2026
Send us a short description (approximately half a page) of your idea at info@napnetwerk.nl. No extensive business plans, just a clear and concrete explanation of your idea and the impact it could make.

Step 2 – Feedback round
June 2026
You will receive targeted feedback and the opportunity to further refine your idea.

Step 3 – Poster submission
Before 1 October 2026
Develop your concept into a digital A1 poster that presents your idea clearly and visually.

At the end of October, we will announce the top three entries. These finalists will have the opportunity to present their idea in a five-minute live pitch during the NAP anniversary event. Their posters will also be showcased at the event.

The winner will be chosen jointly by the jury and the audience.

In addition to recognition within the NAP network and visibility to a broad audience, the winner will receive:

  • A stage at the anniversary event to present the idea
  • A certificate
  • A dinner for five with the jury
  • Recognition of your accomplishment on all NAP media platforms

But perhaps even more importantly: you will actively contribute to the future of our sector.
