''Attracting Talent for the future of the Process Industry''

At the moment, the process industry is experiencing the impact of the lack of well-trained technical personnel on a daily basis. This phenomenon is widely recognized within the NAP Community. What can we do to make working in the process industry more attractive and turn the image of a polluting industry into the image of an energy transition engine? To elaborate on this matter NAP has invited two speakers who provide insight into the perspective of education, recruitment and the image of the business we are in.

Education perspective: What can companies do to increase the influx of technical professional education?
Marijn Meijer is director of the Center for Youth Communication Chemistry (C3). He has a background in education, curriculum development and didactic research. Discover, experience and choose is the slogan of C3. It is about being visible to young people, offering effective experiences and thereby enabling a substantiated profile or study choice.

Education is key to many things. In fact, it is the only way to reach large groups of young people on a regular basis and to enthuse them for the technical sector. What can companies do, which buttons can be turned, to guarantee a sufficiently large influx into technical professional education?

Business perspective: Creative solutions when recruiting technical personnel.
Bjarne Tellekamp works as Talent Acquisition Partner EMEA at Huntsman and has been involved in Recruitment in the (petro)chemical industry for several years. He has been responsible for the implementation of the recruitment strategy within the key location of Rotterdam for 3 years and he also supports the rest of Europe with the recruitment of mainly technical personnel.

With the current challenges in the labor market, it is crucial to be creative in the way in which staff is recruited, but it is also important to look beyond just filling an open position. In his presentation, Bjarne will tell more about how Huntsman is currently implementing its recruitment process, with a view to the future.
